What does 懐 mean?
懐 is a Japanese noun meaning “inside the breast of one's clothing (esp. kimono); bosom; (breast) pocket” in English. It can also be translated as “space between one's chest and outstretched arms, heart (e.g. of a mountain), mind” depending on context. It is written as 懐 in kanji, ふところ in hiragana, and futokoro in romaji. This word is part of JLPT N2 vocabulary.
